Description
This is Lotus Isle Park on Tomahawk dr. In Portland Oregon. Technically it is on Hayden island Jantzen Beach. I encourage my viewers to look at old images from this park to truly appreciate mine. This once was a theme park in which this park was named after. The park opened on July 28 1930 and closed in 1932. It was supposed to be "The Wonderland of the Pacific Northwest." At 128 acres with 40 rides, it was Oregon's largest amusement park at the time. This place was Plagued with tragedy. Two months after the park opened a 16 year old boy fell from a roller coaster and drowned in the Columbia River. The owner of the park committed suicide the next day. The had a run away bull elephant that caused a lot of damage, a plane crash that burned down several buildings, and finally bankruptcy. Things were liquidated and the rest was burned to the ground with a bonfire meant to destroy the memories. There is so much history here you can feel it when you are there. I wish I could project that with my images of this place. That is why I want my viewers to Google old images of Lotus Isle in Oregon.
